Thank you for stepping up to a leadership role in your PTA. You have accepted the challenge to lead your PTA into the future and New Jersey PTA is committed to helping you meet this challenge!
Per the NJPTA Standards of Affiliation agreement, the annual training requirement states that all elected officers must attend at least one NJPTA-approved training before this year’s Leadership Convention (April 1 & 2, 2022). Your local PTA and PTA as a whole are stronger when we have leaders who are trained in running their nonprofit business.
NJPTA has developed pre-recorded webinars you can view, at your convenience, from the comfort of your home. Please see below for the details.
Pre-requisite for all elected officers:
Standards of Affiliation – This is a review of the New Jersey PTA Local PTA Standards of Affiliation Agreement (SOA). The SOA addresses all of the NJPTA and governing agency requirements to keep your local unit compliant. This document is referenced in all of the other training modules – view this first!!
The Role of Grassroots Advocacy in Your Local PTA – National PTA was founded by advocates and has a strong history of impacting education policy and advocating for children. Learn how you/your PTA can advocate while achieving success for all children.
Membership in Your PTA (Will be posted shortly) – Discover tools and tips to help increase your PTA membership!

Minutes, Records and Correspondence – Local PTA Secretary Essentials
Rules and Procedures – Bylaws and Standing Rules Essentials – Officers are responsible for leading the association per policy and procedure. A PTA bylaws chair is the ‘expert’ in all things procedural. This training details how the Local PTA Bylaws and Standing Rules work together to govern a PTA.

- Attend the 121st NJPTA Leadership Convention – Friday, April 1st & Saturday, April 2nd at the Doubletree by Hilton, Fairfield, NJ. Details can be found at njpta.org.
- Reach out to your Field Service Team member. Each local unit has a council and/or Region Director assigned to them by county. Their role is to assist local units with policy and procedure, compliance, and questions and issues as they arise. Their contact information can be found by clicking here.
